Product Updates, December 2025
Rounding out 2025, the Scholarly team shipped more great functionality to our customers. We're incredibly thankful to have partnered with some great institutions this year to build a platform that improves academic operations. We love working with you day in and day out.
2026 is going to be big!
Workflow Upgrades
Steps can now have a "begins at" date and time set. This allows administrators to set specific times when steps in a workflow should begin
These times can be configured for everyone in the workflow, everyone in a group, or individuals
Rich text questions in workflows can now have file attachments and links disabled
Appointment track type can now be used as an eligibility criterion for faculty-initiated workflows
Changed the automated emails from the system to use a new email address
Read-only Permissions
Introduced a new permission variant, read-only
The read-only permission does what it says on the tin: opens up different parts of the application but does not allow for modifying the data
The read-only permission level is great for folks that might need information but not the ability to manage workflows and data
This can be applied to our existing base roles of institution admin, department admin, and workflow manager
Permissions and roles can be further configured on an institution-by-institution basis. If you have questions about this, please request a demo!
API Upgrades
Folders within My Documents can now be managed through the API
Files can now be uploaded via the Scholarly API into a faculty member's My Documents
Leave objects can now have an external ID set from the API, allowing for more predictable syncing from other systems
Added MD5 checksums to all file attachment properties in the API, which makes for easier create-or-update semantics
Miscellaneous Improvements and Fixes
We squashed the last accessibility (a11y) violations within our application and re-published our Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT)
We fixed a few miscellaneous issues with Web of Science integrations
Added integrations for Canvas and One45
Improved performance across the application to keep the Scholarly experience snappy
Added Academic Year as a possible type for a faculty activity property
Fixed a bug where the page would turn blank after uploading a file in Google Chrome
Fixed an issue with character encodings in CV exports
Improved our matching and deduplication algorithm to better associate faculty activities when being ingested from multiple sources
Fixed a bug with grid scrollbars
Fixed a bug with sorting issue with faculty activities by date
Committee roles can now be self-served
That’s a wrap for December and for 2025. Questions or feedback? Your account team is here to help at support@scholarlysoftware.com. See you next month!
