Product Updates, March 2026

Here are a few of the things we built this month in partnership with our customers.

Workflow Enhancements

  • Conditional Steps. Scholarly can now skip a step if certain conditions are met. These conditions can be related to the faculty member (e.g. "Only show this step to assistant professors") or based on other step answers (e.g. "Show the appeals question to anyone receiving a Not Meeting on their annual performance report").

  • Send Back. Scholarly can now send workflows back steps so that assignees may re-complete steps.

  • Multiple Enrollments. Faculty members can now enroll in workflows multiple times for the same workflow cycle. This is great for faculty-initiated workflows like leave and sabbatical applications.

  • Automatic record creation. Upon completion of a workflow, Scholarly can now create records. Create leaves or faculty activities when a workflow moves into the "Approved" state!

  • Immediate email actions. Rather than routing through a user's inbox, workflows can now send emails immediately.

CV Import Improvements

  • Improved the performance and accuracy of CV Import. Rather than taking tens of minutes, it now takes just a few minutes even for the longest CVs

  • CV Import gained a new previewing interface, where you can see exactly where an entry came from on the CV. This makes inspecting the results of the tool much easier.

  • Improved some of the UI based on customer feedback.

AI Assistant Upgrades

  • Scholarly introduced a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server to a limited set of customers. This allows customers to connect from ChatGPT or Claude directly to Scholarly to enable powerful capabilities. This requires central IT sign off to enable at an institution.

  • Assistant received some model upgrades, which result in faster and better conversations. Assistant more reliably produces visualizations.

  • Assistant can now perform actions on your behalf. It creates a plan of what it would like to do, and then the user can accept or reject its plan.

API Upgrades

Miscellaneous

  • Record display order and editability can now be better configured through Settings > Record Configurations.

  • Select fields in record custom fields can now have multiple selections.

  • Credit Bank Line Items can now be updated throughout and at the end of a workflow.

  • Fixed 50+ reported bugs.

  • Improved the performance of the slowest pages in the app.
