Product Updates, June 2025
June was a milestone month at Scholarly. From richer document exports to parallel workflow steps, our team shipped dozens of improvements that you’ll start noticing right away. (Missed the May edition? Catch up here.)
Document Exports — From Self-Serve to Supercharged
Point-and-click CV templates
Scholarly can now configure custom CV and other Word-based export formats. This is great for exporting CVs in the school's preferred format. It can even be used to author NIH Biosketch documents.Universal exports
The revamped engine works across every Scholarly account and retired 5,000+ lines of legacy code, keeping things lean and fast.Smart PDF caching and accessible PDFs
Identical exports are now served from cache, cutting PDF-generation time. All PDFs generated are designed with accessibility in mind, adhering to the WCAG 2.1 AA recommendations.
Workflow Engine — Parallel Paths & Smoother Reviews
Concurrent steps
Run multiple review tracks side-by-side—for example, external reviewers and internal committees—then merge results automatically.“Closes on” dates
Deadlines for each cycle are now crystal-clear to admins and reviewers alike.Hidden steps & cleaner diagrams
Optionally hide internal steps from candidates and enjoy tidier visual flows.Quality-of-life fixes
Resolved duplicate-response edge cases
Corrected step-order display glitches
Streamlined assignee management and eliminated extra clicks
Accessibility & Design Polish
Fresh color palette
Every UI component now meets or exceeds WCAG 2.1 AA contrast guidelines right out of the box.Toward accessible PDFs
Moving all accounts to our new PDF provider lays the groundwork for tagged, screen-reader-friendly exports.
Data Integrations & API Foundations
One-click SFTP connectors
Stand up secure file drops for nightly HR or SIS feeds in minutes—not weeks.Public API (early access)
The first production calls to our forthcoming API shipped this month—stay tuned for broader availability later this summer.
AI-Assisted Authoring
AI Paste reliability
Addressed the pesky errors some users saw when pasting large blocks of text or date fields.AI-generated letters
Department chairs can now draft recommendation letters with a single click, then fine-tune the tone before sending.
Performance, Security & Reliability
When creating a user, we have more protections against duplicate email addresses.
Growing Community
Our community is growing, with more institutions than ever choosing Scholarly in AY 25-26. Our team also welcomed a new member as well. Kelly, our CTO, welcomed a new son to their family.
Enjoy the rest of the "quiet" season, and as always, we’d love to hear what you think. Reach out to your account manager or support@scholarlysoftware.com with any questions or feedback.
Until next month!
